This workspace is designed to document my research on radical prison activism in North America. I am studying the different social and political forms that the prison struggle has taken over the years, centering the intellectual dimensions of grassroots counter-carceral insurgencies between the 1980s and early-2000s.
Each post will continue to grow as the weeks pass by, so what you read will likely be built upon and revised, again and again. Therefore please read generously and any suggestions or points of reference you might share are wholeheartedly welcome.
Significant portions of the archival resources I am working with are housed at the San Francisco Freedom Archives, the Southern California Library, the DePaul library special collections, and my bookshelf. The majority of the project, however, will be based in oral history methods. (More to come on that note!)
